Web Services Engineer

Position Details

LOCATION: Annapolis Junction, MD | Day Shift: Mon-Fri  9am-5pm


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems- Maintains an organization's computer systems' workflows and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, including fixing network issues along with updating equipment and software.

  • Provide technical support in the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures.

  • Troubleshoots moderately complex system hardware and software issues.

  • Trains end users on the proper use of hardware and software.

  • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.

  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels.

  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions.

  • Ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.

  • Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

  • Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users.

  • May evaluate existing systems and assist with planning long-term strategies.

  • May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.


REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE

TS/SCI CLEARANCE WITH FS POLY REQUIRED

IAT Level 2 - CompTIA Security+ CE


Experience with architecting and engineering enterprise level solutions.


Education:

HS/GED w/19 years of experience

Bachelors w/14 years of experience

CompTIA Security+ CE


Mandatory Skills:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with monitoring tools and performance tuning.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

  • Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).

  • Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).

  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Red Hat System Administrator

  • (RHSA), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.

  • Strong understanding of network protocols, DNS, SSL/TLS, and web security practices



Salary:


The likely salary range is up to $145K. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
