System Engineer, SR IV

Position Details

LOCATION: Ft. Meade, MD | DAY SHIFT: Monday thru Friday

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for understanding the needs of the customers and the realities of commercially available IT products, creating requirements that will allow implementation by the development team

  • Support the planning of systems and development deployments as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards and auditing

  • Participate in analysis, design, and new construction of next generation IT systems

  • Maintain standard windows images for VDI

  • Create application packages for end point management systems such as BigFix and SCCM

  • Provide the documentation, testing, and maintenance of system updates, modifications and configurations

  • Analyze and propose appropriate engineering standards and processes for a project

  • Supervise or coordinate the work of other contractor engineers or technicians on a project.

  • Assist in conducting an evaluation to determine its suitability for project implementation.

  • Work with ticketing system to optimize and automate workflow


REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience configuring, deploying, and managing VDI infrastructures

  • Experience of application packaging and application deployment tools such as SCCM and BigFix

  • Extensive knowledge of scripting languages such PowerShell, Bash, Python

  • Endpoint OS experience with Windows 10/11 and Linux

  • Knowledge of integrated components such as DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy

  • Ability to research, evaluate design test and implement Virtual Desktop solutions

  • Knowledge of full lifecycle management techniques testing, integration, change management, security and authentication services


WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • A solid technical background with a focus on IT Systems and the ability to identify and fix problems within existing systems, design and implementation of new systems, and enhancement of existing systems

  • Experience performing system engineering activities and developing and delivering work products

  • Experience with Telecommunication (TCP/IP, OIS/CMIP/X25), operating systems (Windows, UNIX, LINUX), database/DBMD (oracle, access, sybase) and applications (Tivolli, Peoplesoft)

  • Must have one of the following DoD approved certifications to meet the category/level IAT-2 (DoD 8570) requirement for this position: Security+, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA-Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), CASP, GCIH, or GCED

  • Required Education & Experience: High School/GED (+12) years of relevant experience. AD (+10) years of relevant experience. BA/BD (+6) years of relevant experience. Master's degree (+4) years of relevant experience, or PHD (+2) years of relevant experience
