Network Engineer's primary role involves monitoring and maintaining critical infrastructure and network related components. Must be able to demonstrate strong Cisco skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and documenting computer networks and infrastructure.
Performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation of a statewide network, utilizing industry best practices for security, disaster recovery and business continuity, change control, and client support.
Developing and analyzing network designs and protocols including prototyping and assessment.
Performing planning, engineering, forecasting and implementation, and identification of resource requirements for network systems.
Leading and/or assisting in major network projects to support capacity growth, upgrades and new products/features, and integration.
Evaluating current network systems and recommending changes in maintenance and systems standards, and training support personnel on the conversion, implementation, and troubleshooting.
Applying in-depth up-to-date knowledge of standards, guidelines, industry trends and similar for LAN, WAN, Wireless, Data Center, Cloud networking and interconnection.
Driving improvements in network process, efficiency, and standardization.
Ensuring security compliance, change control processes and adherence to standards.
Providing upper tier of diagnosis, isolation, and resolution of network problems.
Identifying and documenting root cause.
Proactively identifying potential issues in the production environment and recommending potential solutions
Developing comprehensive graphical and text-based documentation and effectively managing the implementation process from design to acceptance.
Hosting weekly status meetings/calls with team or on as needed basis.
Leading, scheduling, and overseeing the activities with other team members to resolve end user hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.
Assisting in the creation of robust network designs, acting as the escalation point of contact and lead engineer for implementations and provide ongoing support and maintenance.
Oversight of the configuration, maintenance, and documentation of routers, switches, wireless controllers, load balancers, security appliances, WAN optimizers, and management and security appliances.
Reporting as follows: Weekly report communicating project progress and status, Weekly time reporting on JIS provided forms, and Any additional reports as assigned by the supervising manager.
REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
Layer 2 & 3 optimization and boundary virtual switching systems.
Scalable routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF).
Enterprise Data Center and cloud Networking for Virtualization, SDN, Load
Balancing, storage.
Zero Trust Network Access and micro-segmentation.
High Availability in Enterprise.
Advanced WAN service layers, SDWANs and WAN Optimization applications.
Current Network Security Services applications, services, and appliances including, but not limited to:
Identity Management. Network Access Control.
Application Layer Inspection. Content and Malware Filtering.
Data Loss and Intrusion Prevention. Zero-day threats.
IPsec and SSL VPN. PKI. Two-Factor Authentication.
Enterprise VoIP and physical security environments - access control and video surveillance network applications.
Quality-of-Service design and implementation.
Network Management Protocols, Applications and Operating System capabilities
Installation and configuration of Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, and Palo Alto platforms
Installation, configuration, securing and troubleshooting enterprise wireless access systems.
Ability to:
Work independently, troubleshoot, and provide mentoring to junior associates. Communicate effectively when providing presentations.
Produce technical documents (diagrams, design documents, project plans and schedules, and user instructions) as required.
Knowledge of:
Infrastructure Services and IPAM products. IP multicast, Enterprise Video conferencing, streaming and on demand components.
Coding languages for scripting.
Major server desktop operating systems and utilities.
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements:
Associate degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience.
Active CCNP (Cisco), CCIE(Cisco), PCNSE (Palo Alto) or PCCSE (PaloAlto) certification.
Schedule (Hybrid):
Two (2) days remote at a suitable off-site location.
Three (3) days on site at the Maryland Judiciary Information Systems, 189 Harry S Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401

Salary: The likely salary range is up to $170K-$175K. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
