Reporting to the President, the Business Developer is responsible for all cradle-to-grave business development processes to include development, generation and closure of new business opportunities within Government (Federal, State & Local) and Commercial sectors. Main responsibilities include seeking and acquiring new projects and opportunities, supporting bids and proposal efforts, developing, coordinating and implementing marketing plans and activities designed to maintain and increase existing business, and managing opportunities pipeline.
The company requires a senior business development professional who can identify potential new business opportunities and develop tactics and teams needed to bring them to fruition. This position must be able to actively lead the business development function in an effective and aggressive manner. The position requires the individual to effectively perform and manage the following functions:
Serve as key member of senior leadership team
Assist with setting the company’s strategic marketing and business development direction
Coordinate, Manage and Attend conferences, meetings, trade shows and industry events
Responsible for the identification, evaluation, cultivation and capture of new business in federal government and commercial industries.
Seeks out, evaluate and interpret RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, etc. to determine customer requirements and to develop winning strategies.
Define strategies to achieve annual sales goals and follow defined strategies to achieve set sales strategies
Revenue generation and strategic partnerships development and management
Lead generation, follow-up and closure
Support and help coordinate proposal development process and aid in developing winning proposal strategies that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns and objectives.
Build a sales pipeline and generate new revenue by identifying, qualifying, and capturing new awards by leveraging a solid small business portfolio of IDIQs and subcontracting vehicles
Maintains status of Business Development opportunities and forecasts.
Identify, introduce, and manage Mentor-Protégé opportunities and relationships
Identify, introduce and coordinate teaming partner opportunities and relationships
Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
Conduct cold calls and other sales and marketing strategies as a means to develop new business opportunities
Conduct and deliver sales presentations and participate in sales meetings with business leads
Manage and coordinate social media and other marketing campaigns and establish advertising campaigns
Assist in establishing winning proposal strategies for commercial accounts
Coordinates with internal and external communities of interest
Research and build relationships with new clients.
Build and develop business development team as company size and growth warrant
In-depth knowledge of the industry and its current events
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or equivalent is required
Proven sales and business development track record
Seven (7) years plus business development, marketing and/or sales experience
A solid understanding of the company’s markets, services, and a rolodex of contracts in related markets
Strong business and project management skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively close on sales of all volumes
Experience with IDIQ wins with revenues greater than $25M
Experience developing and maintaining strong opportunity pipelines
Strong skills working with both internal and external proposal resources
Strong communication skills and IT fluency
Knowledge of the federal/DoD government acquisition processes
Ability to coordinate and develop detailed proposal documents in response to RFPs
Ability to communicate effectively across a wide spectrum of people with varying degrees of experience and knowledge
Ability to generate effective oral and written presentations
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
Must be detail oriented
